Eco-Camp at the Manatee Center is Cool in the Summertime!
Kids love summer camp at the Manatee Center!
June 26-30: Eco-Explorers, Ages 8-12: Perfect for nature lovers! Explore the wetlands, uplands and aquatic ecosystems! Features educational field trips and loads of fun!
July 10-14: Ocean Adventures, Ages 8-12: Amazing for future marine biologists! Discover Florida's marine ecosystems, and the critters within them, with hands-on and in-water activities and even fun crafts and encounters!
July 24-28: Wild Wonders, Ages 6-9: This fun camp combines creativity and exploration! Campers enjoy outdoor adventures and hands-on activities such as art projects and field trips!
Cost is $175 per Camper per Session. Discounts available: $160 with Family Membership; Sibling discount of $10 for each additional child
Each session is one action-packed week of educational outdoor adventures:
Learn water safety techniques and Go seining for interesting Discover wildlife in unique local spots.
wildlife observation tips. marine creatures.
Learn to kayak and snorkel. Take a wildlife boat tour in the Indian River Lagoon. Find out who's who in the reptile world.
Frequently Asked Questions
Drop-off & Pick-up
Camps run from 9am-4pm. Campers may be dropped off between 8:45am - 9:00am. No arrivals earlier than 8:45am please, as we are preparing for the day.
Campers should be picked up between 3:45pm - 4:00pm. Please pick up your camper promptly.
To pick up or drop off your child at any other time, please call the Manatee Center office to coordinate with the Camp Director.
Payment & Registration
Full payment must be made two weeks prior to camp start date.
To receive the member discount you must have a valid current Manatee Center family membership or higher. Junior and Individual memberships will not receive discount.
To receive a sibling discount, the campers must be attending the same camp.
A registration form must be completed and returned prior to your camper being accepted into the Manatee Center Camps. A separate form is needed for each child.
The activities will be based on the theme of the week. Prior to camp start date, you will receive an itinerary that is subject to change. Time will be given each day to explore the Manatee Center. Games, arts and crafts, science experiments/lessons, and nature-related movies may also be incorporated.
What to Wear & Pack
Campers should wear clothes they can get dirty in with keeping in mind we will be outside. Remember in South Florida it's hot outside! Sunscreen should be applied at home before coming to camp; hats and water bottles are recommended. Please see detailed list that will be mailed to you prior to camp.
Campers should bring their own lunch as well as a reusable thermos/bottle (we do not have refrigerated storage available). We will have a pizza party on the last day of camp.
The Manatee Center will provide snacks as well as Gatorade and water. Campers are encouraged to bring their own refillable water bottles to stay hydrated. If campers have any kind of food allergies, please let us know in advance on our camper medical form available by request.
Supervision and Grouping
There will be at least 1 counselor for every 6 campers for all camps. These are volunteers that support our staff. We do background checks on all volunteers over the age of 18 and paid staff. At various times in the day, groups may be divided for some activities. The camp director or another paid staff member will be overseeing all activities.
